EXPLORATIONS IN PINE RESIN

For Material Matters 2025, Marks' presented Explorations in Pine Resin, an exhibition collating all of his experiments working with pine resin derived products so far.
The show aimed to give a comprehensive insight in the material; showcasing its deep and far reaching history, wide range of previous applications, and how these have been replaced by petroleum based alternatives. In doing so it will made the case for a contemporary revival - showing how the implementation of new techniques developed by Marks' can allow pine resin to be applied to many innovative new applications.
Exhibited pieces included a range of products such as handles, lights and mirrors, small scale furniture and lighting designs as well as a recent collaboration with Sanne Visser's Hair Cycle, in which a sustainable composite material was developed.
