IMPROVISE

Created in the absence of a welder, 'Improvise' explores alternatives to welding for those that cannot afford the equipment or don't have the necessary environment to use it in. It draws upon traditional woodworking jointing methods, plugging one end of the steel tubing to create a wooden tenon, and then cutting out and plugging the other piece of tubing to create a mortise, before secured gluing the two together.
In this way, a joint is created that equals the strength of a mortise and tenon joint, yet has the exterior appearance of one that has been welded.
