CAVITY

Dining tables have one of the largest footprints of any piece of furniture, yet only their top surfaces are utilised. 'Cavity' re-examines the roles they could play in domestic environments by removing the traditional stretchers and replacing them with a storage cavity for plates, bowls and other dinnerware.
Not only does this add greater functionality to the piece; allowing users to immediately access everything necessary for dining right underneath their hands, but it also provides an alternative solution for a lack of kitchen storage space and encourages people to sit down whilst eating.
